West Quest Part Deux - Days 70 - 73
Some down time in Sioux Falls, South Dakota
Tuesday thru Friday, 18 - 21 October 2022
We departed Henderson, Nebraska Tuesday morning for Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Regular readers know that we visited Sioux Falls earlier in this trip back in August on Day 10, Day 11, Days 12 and 13, Day 14, Days 15 and 16, and Day 17.
We enjoyed our time here, and since we had some extra days available in our itinerary, we decided to swing north and spend four more days in Sioux Falls. This also set us up to swing down to the Ames, Iowa area when we leave so we can once again attend worship service this coming Sunday at Cornerstone Church.
We are both thinking 70+ days on the road is wearing us out a bit as we’ve been making mistakes, such as the one I described here.
Well, here’s another one. We arrive in Sioux Falls and head to Sioux Falls KOA Journey where we stayed last time and where (I thought) I had once again made reservations. We arrive only to find that the campground is clearly closed. I then checked my reservation and discovered, to my horror, that I had accidentally booked Sioux City North KOA Holiday. Adding insult to injury, we had just passed through Sioux City 45 minutes earlier. Fortunately, KOA has a same day cancellation policy of only $10 rather than a full night fee. Even more importantly, Tower Campground in Sioux Falls is not only open year round, they had availability for us. Crisis averted. Time to go home.
Our days here have been mostly down time for us and I haven’t been taking all that many pictures. Here is what I have:
We’ve had a nice stay here in Sioux Falls. Good weather, visiting with our friend Heather, and just having some down time. Tomorrow we head to Grimes, Iowa where we will stay at a Harvest Hosts location to set us up for worship service at Cornerstone.
As for West Quest Part Deux, it will end on Tuesday, October 25 when we will return “home.” We can’t actually move back into our house just yet as the folks renting it still need some time, but we’ve made other plans until we can get back in around the first of November.

P.S. We were going to swing through North Carolina for fun but have decided not to do that. That was going to be our final state. We will get it next year. Here is the final Oliver’s Travels map as of October ‘22 and the balance of West Quest Part Deux:
26 states and over 13,000 miles in less than 9 months of ownership. Not bad IMO. North and South Carolina and all the remaining southern states are slated for our next trip from late Jan to March of 2023.
