Today we departed Iowa where we spent eight nights at the Kellogg RV Park. For neither one of us having ever spent any adult time in Iowa, the state sure was good to us. We met so many wonderful folks and we now have many happy lifetime memories. Perhaps Iowa will be in our future. Just saying.
With proper sendoff kisses from Skipper, we departed just a little bit after 9 am.
I normally lead off driving, but your humble blogger had a post to get out yesterday morning and it was either leave on time or write the post. I chose the former.
Have I mentioned there are a lot of windmills in Iowa? I’m not a huge fan of how they look, but at least most of them do appear to be moving.
Maddie and Skipper seemed happy to get back on the road today and after over two months of traveling this year, they finally seem to know that they can just chill. Well, maybe not so much Maddie.
The day started off with gorgeous blue skies with puffy clouds as you can see in this stop we made a couple hours down the road.
I took over driving after the above gas stop, then 30 minutes down the road started falling asleep at the wheel. So we stopped again and my faithful traveling partner took over for me. I didn’t sleep so well the last few nights and was grateful for the assist. The rest area we stopped at featured an observation tower, allowing me to get this shot:
And of course, Maddie and Skipper thought they were in heaven because they got two walks in just 30 minutes!
It’s been since Day 42 of our Summer ‘22 Cross Country since we’ve added a state, but now they should come in rapid succession as we the entire west (if everything goes according to plan).
Shortly after we got into South Dakota, and for most of the rest of the evening, it rained pretty hard. Again, I was glad to have such a good driver at the wheel.
Other than light rain during setup, our arrival at the Sioux Falls KOA Journey went smoothly. We then headed downtown to Taphouse 41 for a burger and beer.
See you tomorrow!
Enjoying every minute of your travels, sent you a personal email a few days ago. Simply an amazing trip!
