Last night we stayed at the Eagle Ridge RV Park in Eagleville, Missouri. I failed to get some campsite photos when we arrived yesterday because it was just too darn hot and humid when I thought about it! So here are some from this morning:
As I explained in yesterday’s post, we didn’t have to go through Missouri or Kansas, but it was easy to knock them out on our way west.
From Eagleville, we traveled south on I-35 to Hwy 36 at Cameron to head west into Kansas.
We stopped in Hiawatha, Kansas at a Walmart to get food and to have lunch. Fortunately, there was a wonderful well-maintained grass lot we parked next to that made for a perfect parking place to walk the dogs.
It also happened to be next to a farm equipment dealer, giving me something fun to look at.
After about an hour spent in Hiawatha, Kansas, we departed for York, Nebraska where we will be staying at the Diamond B Horse Motel.
Something we learned today is that there is a whole network of horse motels around the country that cater to folks who travel with their horses. Many large horse trailers include a built-in RV so that the owners have a place to stay when parked. At the horse motel, the horses get a corral and stable to eat, exercise and sleep. We are fortunate that this particular horse motel also caters to RVers like us so that we could be exposed to this wonderful part of life on the road. Thank you Dr. Bryan and Diane Buss for your wonderful hospitality!
What a wonderful place to spend the night!
Toward the end of today’s journey we received some terrible news that a dear friend and neighbor Judy Rose has been placed into hospice. It is therefore with a heavy heart that we must head back home to Harriman, Tennessee.
As I wrap up this post early Sunday morning July 17, we received word from Wayne Rose that his wife Judy passed at 6 am EDT. We are obviously devastated and glad we made the decision yesterday to head home.
Please pray for our friend and neighbor Wayne Rose as he mourns the loss of his wife of 60 years, Judy Rose.
I will continue daily posts until we get home, at which time I’ll pause until we resume our trip west in a few weeks.
So sorry to hear of your friends passing! Prayers for her husband!
