This morning was one of the nicest we’ve had the entire trip. We spent last night parked in the grass between a golf course and Halliday’s Winery in Lake Milton, Ohio. We awoke to a gorgeous morning with sunshine, birds chirping, and even a few early golfers. It was quite nice and we delayed leaving until about 10 am since it was so relaxing.
As we headed west on the Ohio Turnpike, we decided to take a slight detour to Sebring, Ohio to visit the Copeland Oaks retirement community. It wasn’t that far out of way and Frieda’s late Aunt Roseanne lived there for many years before passing in 2009. We had a wonderful visit with her back in 2000 when we last did a cross country tent camping trip with our sons and we wanted to feel her presence again.
After this brief stop, we were back on the road again toward Shipshewana, Indiana.
Since the start of our trip back on June 5, we’ve crisscrossed Ohio, Indiana and Illinois several times as we’ve gone as far west as Amana, Iowa and as far east as Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. Originally, we had intended to make a couple of shorter trips to get ready for a larger cross country trip, but then our plans had to change and the shorter trips got rolled into the larger cross country trip. So right now, we are basically on what would have been our second short trip, this time to head to Scott County Park in Iowa to meet up with some dear friends. After that, we are headed all the way west as far as Washington, Oregon and California on what was to have been the August big trip.
This evening we arrived back at Shipshewana South Campground for the second time this trip and we are even staying on the same site (3E).
Tomorrow is a relaxing and sightseeing day here in Shipshewana. Thanks for following Oliver’s Travels!
Indiana is a fascinating state! If you are able, the little town that has the world's largest rocking chair is worth checking out out, there are several more other things to see there. Sorry, I do not remember the name of the town.
