Your humble travel blogger and his wife have been busy with some personal business these last few days, thus the reason for no posts since Monday.
We rather accidentally chose what has turned out to be not only an amazing little RV park, but also a great location to explore central Iowa, and in between business, that’s what we’ve been doing. So what follows are some pictures and captions to get everyone caught up. I will strive for the normal daily cadence tomorrow. Until then, thank you for following Oliver’s Travels!
Lunch at Provisions Lot F in Ames on Monday. Note Frieda’s precious smile. Happy wife, happy life.
On Tuesday, we went back to visit Pella again. In one of the neighborhoods, these three siblings ran up to our truck at a stop sign to let us know (in case it wasn’t obvious), that they had lemonade to sell at a dollar a cup. We bought two rather warm cups and give them a three dollar tip. It was a memory none of them will ever forget judging by their reaction. It was a precious moment we will never forget either.
Downtown Pella in front of the Opera House shortly after our lemonade stand stop. Pella is a thriving little town with a lot to see and do.
The Vermeer Mill, a fully functional 1850s-style windmill, reaching 134 ft high, grinds wheat into flour using only wind power.
One of the many beaches at Lake Red Rock, the largest reservoir in Iowa and just a few miles from downtown Pella.
