Here’s how things looked here in Beaumont, Texas as we prepared to head northeast to Laurel, Mississippi:
Like that Olympic Game Farm T-shirt I’m sporting? I picked that up during West Quest Part Deux - Days 28 to 34. Probably should have selected and extra large…
I’m guessing everyone has a pet peeve or two and one of mine is these stupid gas pump TVs. According to the gstv.com web site, “GSTV provides ~3 BILLION MOMENTS TO DRIVE ACTION and CREATE LASTING BRAND IMPRESSIONS.” I would change that to read “GSTV provides each customer with 5-6 minutes of MAXIMUM ANNOYANCE to tempt them into SWINGING A LUG WRENCH at the screen to silence Maria Menounos who should be ashamed to host this completely annoying and worthless network.”
Shortly after heading northeast out of Beaumont, we crossed into Louisiana and added another state to Oliver’s travels:
It seemed a bit odd that Louisiana didn’t have the standard large Welcome to [State Name] sign with the governor’s name on it, but we definitely knew we weren’t in Texas anymore. What gives it away is all the elevated highways built over swamps.
Swamp do have a certain beauty and I wish we could have spent more time at this rest area:
Just before we got to Mississippi, we stopped one more time in Louisiana to grab some lunch.
Our destination for the night was Sleepy Hollow RV Park in Laurel.
Home for the night:
Out for a walk:
Getting ready to prepare dinner:
And preparing for bed…
Thank you for following Oliver’s Travels!
Looks like you are having a fantastic trip!
