Today we left Shipshewana for the last time this trip. As mentioned in earlier posts, what was to have been a couple of two-week RV trips then a big three month cross country out to the West Coast became one big trip when our plans changed suddenly. As a result, we have now crisscrossed Ohio, Indiana and Illinois three times. Not having previously spent much time in any of these states, we feel like they are old friends now.
Our horse friends were waiting for us this morning, including the sweet filly who was waiting to have her head scratched again.
Neither one of us has been around horses much in our lives but we just loved being neighbors with these two mares, the filly and the colt. The filly has a real love of life and of people and we are certain she will be a special horse for her owner. We wish for her many happy years!
Because it was such a gorgeous morning, and because we had been enjoying the horses, we didn’t leave until around 11 am.
On the way out of town, on one of the back roads, we passed these amazing Clydesdale horses. They are definitely the Mack Trucks of horses!
We also passed this Amish Sunday morning worship service being held in a tent.
As we passed through East Chicago, Indiana, Waze routed us between highways to avoid some serious congestion, to include travel on a major secondary road that was quite seriously the worst piece of pavement either one of us had ever been on. Ironically, as we took the highway onramp while dodging basketball-sized potholes in every direction, we passed this sign:
Shortly after 5 pm, we arrived at Scott County park in Eldridge, Iowa where we will spend the next four days camping next to our dear friends, Mark and Deb Deppe.
As we were talking after dinner, I noticed these beautiful clouds:
This is the end of this post, and of our Ollie:
So true Adam! Of course, I can neither confirm nor deny if there was some alcohol involved last evening.
You have a dog! I would have loved to meet him/her!
Tammy from bela. :)
