First of all, a shoutout to my foreign fans including those in Uganda who are apparently enjoying this journey very much. My prayer for you, my friends, is that one day you will be able to enjoy a similar adventure. God Bless You!
Yesterday featured a poll where I asked you what has splattered on the front right side of our Ollie:
Drumroll please…
Remember, we’re in Amish Country and just today, I took these pictures:
As you can see in the picture above, the Amish buggies stay to the right whenever possible and horses emit exhaust and byproducts of their “horse power” just like any “engine.” As I reflect upon it, the answer intended to be correct — horse manure — may not be right at all and perhaps “something else” is more appropriate. When we arrived in Shipshewana on Sunday, I drove over some horse manure, causing the right two wheels of our truck to squeeze and spray horse manure juice onto our Ollie. So the winning answer to Oliver’s Travels first-ever poll is “something else.” But if you said “horse manure,” you had the right idea!
As for the day itself, we started off by just taking our time. It was another absolutely incredible, cool, sunny day here in Shipshewana, Indiana and we just wanted to enjoy it.
Late morning, we went out to do a bit of shopping before having lunch at Rise ‘n Roll bakery here in Shipshewana which was mentioned back on Day 9 when we were staying in nearby Goshen. While lunch was OK, Frieda and I both agree doughnuts are their specialty.
After lunch, as we drove through the countryside, we admired how the Amish farm with their horses.
The final bit of shopping we did was at Riverwood Pottery where we bought some amazing coffee mugs to be featured in tomorrow’s post.
While we were at Goshen Brewing enjoying their Tuesday night Pad Thai special…
…we got this urgent photo update from the wonderful family staying in our home back in Tennessee…
We have really enjoyed Shipshewana and have adjusted our travel plans a bit so that we hit it again in a couple of weeks. Meanwhile, I leave you with a few more shots from today. Tomorrow we’re off to Ohio for a night before arriving Gettysburg, Pennsylvania where we’ll spend the Independence Day holiday.
Love the look in the evening.
Funny about the horse stuff.
