West Quest Part Deux - Days 25 and 26
Anaconda, Montana to Lolo, Montana to Lewiston, Idaho via scenic U.S. Route 12
Saturday and Sunday, 3-4 September 2022
Writing a daily travel blog is not always easy, especially when I fall behind. The days quickly blur together and then without photos or a look at my trip planning software, I might not even remember what day we did what! Obviously, there hasn’t been a post in couple of days, and I’m now digging out.
Our drive on Saturday was short — just 125 miles — to set us up for Sunday’s drive along scenic U.S. Route 12 between Montana and Idaho.
Since our drive was so short today, I didn’t capture any other pictures before we arrived at Yellowrock Campground in Lolo, Montana.
A nice family-owned campground, Frieda and I laughed at this historic artifact that we found in the restrooms:
Good old American manufacturing dating back to probably the 1960s! Still going strong to include the very worn and polished metal crank handle. Truly vintage!
This overnight set us up for Sunday’s 207 mile drive between Lolo, Montana and Lewiston, Idaho through the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forest. To say this was a spectacular drive would hardly describe it. It was simply breathtaking.
The picture above was our first stop to get a few photos. That angle is real. Frieda was very nervous that Ollie would flip over!
Down the road a bit, after we had crossed into Idaho, there was a wonderful place to stop and just relax a bit. One of our favorite things about our Oliver Legacy Elite II is our onboard solar, lithium batteries and inverter that allows us to make a pot of coffee whenever we feel like it.
A bit further down the road, we captured these shots:
Overall, this was an absolutely spectacular drive that we would highly recommend to anyone traveling between Montana and Idaho.
And because we added Idaho today, here’s the latest map of Oliver’s Travels:
Our stop for the night was Lindsay Creek Vineyards, which we found using our Harvest Hosts membership. Overall, another fantastic experience and we cannot recommend a Harvest Hosts membership strongly enough if you travel in an RV.
See you tomorrow!
This definitely looks like the day we shoukd have traveled with you!! Love the river pics❤️
That is an absolutely gorgeous area! I have really been enjoying your trip.
