Labor Day, Monday, 5 September 2022
We woke up to an absolutely gorgeous morning in Lewiston, Idaho. One of our favorite things about spending the night at a Harvest Hosts location is that it’s almost always very quiet the next morning as there generally nobody around. The other couple who spent the night at Lindsay Creek Vineyards took off very early, so it was just us as we got ready to go ourselves.
The departure out of Lewiston was rather dramatic with an immediate climb up and over Lewiston Hill with an elevation of several thousand feet.
The drive though the rest of Idaho and then eastern Washington consisted of wheat field after wheat field. It was quite beautiful and very different from all the pine trees and mountains we had experienced the day before during our drive on U.S. Route 12.
We set out today with a bit of a dilemma. It was either going to be the longest day of our summer travels so far at about 400 miles, or it was going to be two short days. Since we just had a couple of short days, and we were both feeling good, we “West Quested” all the way to Poulsbo, Washington so the Oliver’s Travels map now looks like this:
This is how Ollie looked as we retired for the evening. Tomorrow morning, we will drive over to our son and daughter-in-law’s house in Silverdale to spend the next 10 nights with them while Ollie sits parked and waiting for us.
I may or may not post anything over the next week and a half as Frieda and I will be focused on family time. Our next travel day is currently planned for Saturday, September 17 when we intend to head to Newport, Oregon where I have a Kleen Tank job to do.
Thank you for following Oliver’s Travels!
