Frieda and I are making plans for a two-month swing around the country again, this time in a clockwise direction.
Last year, we set out on what was to be a counter-clockwise trip called Summer ‘22 Cross Country. We ended up turning around to head back home on Day 43 as explained here. Ultimately, that trip looked like this:
When we set out again on what Oliver’s Travels fans suggested we call West Quest Part Deux, we ended up completing this trip around the country:
At this point, Ollie’s states visited map looked like this:
We are heading to San Antonio, Texas next month for a quick 10-day trip to see some longtime Navy friends at which point we’ll be able to add Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas to the map. Then, at the end of May, we will set out on West Quest 2023 that will look something like this:
This trip will allow us to visit Navy friends in New Mexico, California and Michigan. We will also visit family in Arizona, California, Oregon, and Washington. Finally, we will be able to get Ollie to North Dakota and Wisconsin, two states that we missed last summer. That will then set us up for a 2024 trip up to Maine and back to capture all the remaining lower 48 states.
Our 2022 Oliver Legacy Elite II is holding up nicely after more than 16,500 miles so far. If you have any questions about owning one, shoot me a note. And thank you for following Oliver’s Travels.
I hope I get to see you in Oregon this time!! Our mutual travels had us passing somewhere on I-5 last time! If you have approximate dates, I’ll pencil it in. We can do wine country!!
Sounds like a fun trip. As a child, my parents had a travel trailer and we used to go places and I hated it. I wasn't old enough to appreciate it at the time, but I wish I could stowaway on your trip. Can't wait to go along on your travels with you, in the newsletter, of course. lol
