We had intended to restart our west quest yesterday, but we’ve had a technical delay so to speak.
As mentioned in earlier posts, we rented our house out to some nice folks who are building a house next to us. It worked out great for all of us because they needed a temporary rental and we benefited by having our house occupied while away.
When giving them the utilities total for the last couple of months, it was almost embarrassing to tell them that Comcast cable (internet and TV) is $252 a month. A discussion ensued and we quickly agreed they didn’t care about TV and I had only been keeping it for them. All they really wanted was internet.
My plan all along was to cancel the Comcast as soon as we returned from our big trip now that I have Starlink for RVs, which I intend to use when at home. (Full review coming soon.)
As a result of our mutual agreement to cancel Comcast, last Friday morning I ordered T-Mobile 5G Home Internet. It only recently became available in our area, and at $50/mon for unlimited data (and no contract), it seemed like a no brainer to try it out.
The T-Mobile router will be delivered today and I thought it best to not ask the renters to switch everything over in the house because like most of us now, there are a dozen or more devices that need to be switched (TVs, Alexa, security cameras, smart lights and locks, etc.) to the new network. So I’ll be doing that today, then the plan is for us to get on the road tomorrow.
So if everything goes well today, look for a Day 1 post on Thursday morning. Until then, thank you for following Oliver’s Travels.
The road isn’t going anywhere brother . . .
