Hello Oliver’s Travels fans! Frieda, Maddie, Skipper and I have completed our first of several RV trips planned in 2023.
Saturday and Sunday we enjoyed some more time with Frieda’s mom Barbara and her partner Steve. Mom is a great cook and this cherry pie was a fan favorite of mine on Sunday. Thank you Mom!
And here are Frieda and Skipper hanging out:
Monday morning we departed Davie for the 850+ mile journey home. Our destination for this first day was once again Lane Southern Orchards in Fort Valley, Georgia. This leaves us with about 300 miles to home on Tuesday.
I’ve mentioned this before, but one of our favorite things about owning the Ollie is being able to stop at a rest area and have lunch in our trailer. Here we are in Okeechobee, Florida.
There is a LOT of traffic on the Florida Turnpike and when at the rest area, you are reminded that there are many different people from many different places traveling through here. It is for that reason that I found this sign in the bathroom curious:
Now, I’m no rocket scientist, but it would never occur to me to drink the water out of a toilet or urinal. And given there are numerous water fountains in the area, I can’t imagine anyone even considering it. But obviously, it’s been an issue thus the reason they warn people not to drink out of the toilets. Yuck!
We stopped about 15 minutes shy of Lane Southern Orchards to have dinner in the town of Perry where a church parking lot served as a nice place to park the truck and trailer.
We had a wonderful dinner at a place called Orleans on Carroll Street and then headed to Fort Valley for the night.
About 20 minutes from our house we pass this barn that we both like.
Here’s a summary of what Florida 2023 looked like:
Just over 2,000 miles in 15 days. Whew. Next up will be a one-week March trip to Fredericksburg, Texas. Stay tuned and thank you for following Oliver’s Travels!
Glad you had a safe trip!
